Regina and Saskatoon Cancer Patient Lodges
A home away from home
The Regina and Saskatoon cancer patient lodges offer a home-away-from-home for patients and their companions. The lodges provide room and board in a supportive environment for out-of-town patients.
The lodges provide guests with a high level of service and comfort. Each of the rooms are designed to feel like home and features a bed, desk, side-chair, towels, extra pillows and blankets, clock radio, and private washroom.
The lodges are self-care facilities. Guests are expected to manage their own personal needs, including medications. If assistance is needed, patients are required to have a companion stay to provide these needs. Smoking is not allowed inside the lodges, and smoking on the grounds is restricted to designated areas.
Guests at the lodge receive three home-cooked meals per day, served cafeteria style and prepared with sensitivity to guest treatments. Special diets can be accommodated upon request. Other amenities include:
- Snacks and beverages
- Games room
- Lounges with cable television/DVD players
- Computer with high-speed Internet
- Wireless Internet
- Outdoor patio
- Self-serve laundry
What to bring
Bedding is provided, but guests are welcome to bring a quilt and pillow. Guests are encouraged to bring a few changes of clothing, toiletry items, books and crafts. Televisions and other appliances are not permitted in the rooms. Please check with lodge staff before bringing electronic items. The Agency is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Guests are encouraged to leave valuables at home and carry their wallet with them at all times.
Guests stay at the lodges for a fee of $40 per person per night. This includes accommodation, meals and snacks. Bag lunches are provided to guests who are required to spend all day at the cancer centre.
Hours of operation
The lodges accommodate the schedules of the cancer centres. They are open from Sunday at 4:00 p.m. through to Friday at 4:00 p.m. On statutory holidays, the lodge opens at 4:00 p.m. unless the holiday falls on a Friday.
Visitors are welcome until 10:00 p.m. For a fee, visitors can also stay for meals.
The lodges are a comfortable walk to the cancer centres. If transportation is required, guests are responsible for arranging their own rides. A volunteer driver program is available to take guests to the cancer centre. More details and cost information is available at the lodges. Parking is available at both lodges, but spaces are limited.
If space is available, the lodges can also be used by other adults for non-cancer related appointments or outpatient visits.
