Our dedicated and compassionate team of social workers, dietitians and volunteers are here to support you throughout your cancer journey and beyond. Ensuring that you have access to the best physical, psychological, emotional, and practical supports is at the heart of everything we do.

Every month, our cancer centres in Regina and Saskatoon offer a wide variety of supportive programs and services that offer unique and meaningful guidance and healing for patients, their families and caregivers. Every month, our centres offer new, as well as regularly scheduled programs, classes and educational sessions, including pain management, nutritional support, counseling, exercise, art therapy, meditation, and palliative care. Some programs are offered in Regina, Saskatoon and online. There are specific classes listed below which are only offered in either Regina or Saskatoon.

Allan Blair Cancer Clinic Groups & Services

 

A Life Worth Writing             

This four week virtual expressive writing group provides patients with the ability to reflect, process and express their individual and/or collective experiences,which may or may not be directly impacted by their cancer experience. The group is offered throughout the year. For more information, or to register, call 306-766-2973.      

Body Image Group

A nine week group which provides you with insight, support, and the tools necessary to guide you towards a healthier you.

Some of the topics covered, include: self-compassion; cognitive restructuring; transforming shame; nutrition; writing; restorative yoga; and exercise.

Dignity Therapy Service

A brief intervention designed to help conserve dying patient’s sense of dignity. It is an opportunity for patients to record the meaningful aspects of their lives and leave something behind for their loved ones. For more information, call 306-766-2973.

One Breath

A five week anticipatory grief group for patients and/or loved ones to discuss and share their thoughts and feelings about terminal illness. Some of the reviewed topics include, coping strategies, legacy work, self-care, forgiveness, and creating moments of connection. Classes available throughout the year. Restorative Yoga

A restorative yoga class for patients and support people to restore the body, mind and spirit. Virtual classes available every Tuesday in September to June from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information, call 306-766-2973.

Writing Group

A nine week writing group that explores the aspects of cancer, treatment and life after cancer care. This group is based on the book “When Words Heal” by Sharon Bray.

Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) Class     

An education class for patients (and their partner/family) on ADT treatment—also known as hormone therapy. Offered on the fourth Thursday of every month throughout the year.

Cancer Transitions Program

A six week program for patients who have completed treatment. Some of the issues that are addressed, include survivorship, emotional wellness, nutrition, exercise and moving forward after treatment.

Forever...In Motion (FIM)

Patients staying at the Cancer Lodge can take advantage of this gentle movement group promoting balance, flexibility, endurance, strength and relaxation. All abilities welcome. Classes available every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. throughout the year. For more information, call 306-766-2973

Patient Support Centre

Wigs, headwear, and books are available free of charge to cancer patients.
Location: ABCC Level 1.
Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, call 306-766‐2512.

Restorative Yoga Wraps 

Restorative yoga wraps are offered to patients who are struggling with anxiety. This can be completed during chemotherapy or admission in hospital. A patient’s upper body is strategically wrapped in a warm hospital blanket to reduce anxiety and stress, while promoting a sense of comfort and support within the body. Look Good Feel Better

A complimentary workshop to help women and men manage the appearance-related effects of their treatment. They provide tools and techniques to help you feel beautiful and vital, such as cosmetics, wigs and hair alternatives, breast forms and garments.

Expressive Arts Therapy

Expressive Arts Therapy uses different methods, including writing, music, visual arts (drawing, painting and sculpting) to help patients explore, understand and process their emotions and experiences. Throughout the year, the Supportive Care Department will offer a selection of expressive art therapy sessions.

Stepping Stones - Walking Group

During the warmer weather months, our supportive care department offers a therapeutic walking group. Meeting location: Queen’s House of Retreat. For more information, call 306-655-1025.
