All Saskatchewan women are automatically registered in the Screening Program for Cervical Cancer (SPCC) when they turn 21 years of age. If you no longer wish to receive letters from the SPCC or do not want to participate in the SPCC, you have the option to opt out.
There are options for opting out of the program:
Level one – Women will no longer receive reminder or result letters from the SPCC. The SPCC will continue to follow-up abnormal and unsatisfactory results with doctors and nurse practitioners.
Level two – Women will have their data hidden so that it is not visible or accessible to the SPCC. Women will not receive reminder or result letters and follow-up of abnormal and unsatisfactory results by the SPCC will not occur.
Discussion with your doctor or nurse practitioner is strongly recommended prior to opting out of the SPCC.
More information about opting out is available here.
