Nutrition

Registered dietitians are available to answer your questions about nutrition and to help you to eat well before, during and after your cancer treatment.

It is important for you to eat well when you have cancer. Eating well can help your immune system to function and help you maintain your energy and strength.

At times, you may find it hard to eat well. This may be due to the type of cancer you have and/or treatment side effects. Some of the symptoms that may affect your eating are poor appetite, sore mouth or throat, taste changes, nausea, and diarrhea. A dietitian can help you choose foods to eat when you are having these symptoms.

Also, you may find yourself receiving various nutrition tips from friends, relatives, merchants, books and other sources. A dietitian can help you sort out what information is right for you.

If you would like to attend a group class about nutrition or speak with a registered dietitian, please contact the dietitian at your cancer centre at the number below or ask the cancer centre staff to arrange this for you.
