Prevention Program for Cervical Cancer

The Prevention Program for Cervical Cancer (PPCC) is a screening program of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency dedicated to the prevention of cervical cancer.

The PPCC:
• provides education about cervical cancer
• informs women 18-69 when they are due for a Pap test
• notifies women by mail of their Pap test results
• works with doctors and nurse practitioners to ensure appropriate follow-up of abnormal test results

Click here to download a copy of the PPCC brochure.

All Saskatchewan women are automatically registered in the PPCC when they turn 18 years of age. Women can choose not to participate in the PPCC. There are options for opting out of the program:

Level One – Women will no longer receive reminder or result letters from the PPCC. The PPCC will continue to follow-up abnormal and unsatisfactory results with doctors and nurse practitioners.

Level Two – Women will have their data hidden so that it is not visible or accessible to the PPCC. Women will not receive reminder or result letters and follow-up of abnormal and unsatisfactory results by the PPCC will not occur.

Discussion with your doctor or nurse practitioner is strongly recommended prior to opting out of the PPCC.  Click here for more information about opting out.
