Melanoma Canada Patient Support Groups

A melanoma diagnosis can be overwhelming. But you don’t have to face the challenges alone. Melanoma Canada offers a wide variety of services to support patients, families and caregivers through every step of their journey. 

See their Peer to Peer Melanoma Support Program. This program is designed to connect melanoma patients to a peer volunteer who has also faced the disease and can offer their experience and provide information and support as needed.

Ovarian Cancer Canada Support Group

OVdialogue is an online community where women with ovarian cancer can connect with one another for advice and encouragement. This secure discussion board is professionally moderated and available anytime, anywhere. It was built with guidance from women who have personally experienced ovarian cancer, as well as leading experts, so that every woman living with this disease will always have someone by her side. Participants share experiences, and ask questions on a host of topics including drugs and side effects, anxiety and depression, coping mechanisms, and fear of recurrence.

PACT: Partnership to Assist with Cessation of Tobacco

Support for individuals who want to stop smoking. The PACT Program was created to build the capacity for health care professionals to provide smoking cessation services and as a part of Saskatchewan’s strategy for tobacco use reduction in the province. PAS now delivers this online training program through Continuing Profess Development of Pharmacy Professionals (CPDPP). To locate a PACT trained pharmacist to help you quit smoking, visit the PAS website.

 

Pancreatic Peer Support Group

Pancreatic Cancer Canada partnered with the cancer support experts at Wellspring to create a specialized program that offers Peer Support and Short-Term Counselling specifically geared towards those experiencing the unique impact of pancreatic cancer. The peer support volunteers offer a caring, comforting and non-judgmental ear to support you and your loved ones through this challenging time, all free of charge. Peer Support Volunteers are specially trained and available to connect with you from the comfort and privacy of your home, either over the phone or via videoconference. During the conversation, you will be invited to share your story, your circumstances, and express any concerns and feelings you might have. Peer Support Volunteers can also offer additional resources, arrange for access to a counsellor, or other supportive care programs that may be beneficial to you based on your needs, interests, and location.

Prostate Cancer Canada Network – Regina


They feature guest speakers who provide current information and the latest developments on prostate cancer research and treatment: surgeons, oncologists, researchers, nurses, dietitians, and others.

They also share our experiences with others who are going through the same challenges. Each meeting ends with an open discussion. New attendees are welcome to introduce themselves and express their concerns or ask questions.
They welcome men recently diagnosed, prostate cancer survivors, those seeking information and support, along with their spouses, partners, and families. We openly discuss prostate cancer, treatments, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, and other matters.
Virtual meetings: Take place on the second Thursday of each month (except July and August).

The Saskatoon Prostate Cancer Support Group is made up of a group of men and their spouses/partners who are dealing with Prostate Cancer. The SPCSG is here to help men and their families navigate the journey of prostate cancer, from diagnosis, through treatment and recovery. All of us have walked in your shoes and we can provide informed help.

The Regina Chapter holds a Survivor Support group weekly. With support groups, participants are able to socialize with others who understand the challenges of living with a brain injury. The support group provides an opportunity to make friends and connect with others.
